The art of reflexology is an ancient therapy that has been practiced for over 5,000 years and was introduced to the western world over 100 years ago. Origins of the art can be found in civilisations of Egypt, China, Russia and America where doctors believe that our bodies are composed of the opposing forces of Yin and Yang that need to work in harmony for us to achieve health and vitality. In Chinese medicine, reflexology works on a similar principle to acupuncture where the body is divided into 12 pairs of energy zones (meridians).
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy which addresses, generally, points on the feet with different areas of the body. Working these points helps to restore energy imbalances, improves wellbeing and aids relaxation. In addition reflexology can help with an improved frame of mind and perspective. For those who do not wish for their feet to be treated or can not have their feet treated, reflexology can be used on the hands, where corresponding points can also be found. Please see my blog on this subject here.
In all my Reflexology treatments I use Songbird products (unless others are requested). Details of Songbird products can be found here.
Treatments are usually 1 hour, however a 30 minute session is available which treats the main energy channels and not individual pressure points. Blocks of treatments are also available for 4 no. and 6 no. treatments. Reflexology can also be given as part of a combined treatment – Please see the Combined Treatments page or a luxury pedicure can be added for an additional £15 (90 mins)
